Introducing the CS-580

We are pleased to present the CS-580 compact handheld DMR/FM HT Transceiver.

Up to now, one needed to trade off between low price and advanced features.

No longer.

Custom manufactured by BFDX for USA-based Connect Systems, the CS-580 is a compact dual mode (DMR/FM) single band HT form factor transceiver with the following features unique not just for this price class; rather, any price class:

From the manufacturer:

The CS580 is one of our most exciting new products that we have designed in the past 30 years. This DMR radio is designed specifically for the amateur radio operators and offers the best value in the DMR market. The radio includes a number of unique and advanced features and is easy to operate.
 Connect to any DMR network without the use of a computer. Experienced Hams who prefer to use a computer can program up to 1,024 fixed channels.
 Strong, durable and tough. Meets MIL-STD-810C/D/E/F for humidity, vibration and shock and is dustproof and waterproof to IP54.
 Frequency of the repeater can be entered from an easy to use screen on the radio in conjunction with a built in keypad. By pressing a single key, you can enter into monitor mode. You can join a conversation by simply pressing the lock key.
 Advanced Hams can enter the frequency, slot number, color code, Tx contact number and type of call from a single easy to use screen. Just press the lock key and you are ready to initiate a call on any DMR network, including Brandmeister, DMR-MARC or DMRplus.
 Find the frequency of local repeaters in a new city by placing the radio into scan mode. Then let the radio automatically find the frequency for you.
 In a similar manner, communications on an analog channel is possible without a computer.
 Stores up to 1024 analog and digital channels in 64 zones with up to 250 contacts. The CPS software for making the code plug is free and available for download from the CSI Download Center.

Get on the air immediately after purchase!

We are also taking delivery of other amateur radio items in the next few days specifically for Frostfest.
Please watch this space for updates.

Thank you for visiting!

* As of this posting, there are no open amateur VHF DMR repeaters in the Richmond, VA area.  There are; however, open amateur VHF DMR repeaters in the region and those select repeaters and talk groups will be pre-programmed.  Please inquire for details.

Why buy a pre-programmed DMR radio?

DMR is the sensation that is literally taking the amateur radio world by storm.  Presently there are many vendors that stock DMR radios, yet no one mentions whether they are programmed.  Why?

DMR radios need programming to function.  Even for the very few models that have Front-Panel Programming (FPP) capability a number of parameters must be programmed and/or configured:

Very Important for Successful Communications:

Input Frequency;
Output Frequency;
Color Code;
Digital Contacts;
Transmit Talk Group;
Receive Talk Group;

Important Only if Using Public DMR Repeater:

Admit Criteria;
DMR User ID.

Get one of these wrong and you may either hear nothing or no one will hear you when you attempt to transmit.

Do you like configuring device drivers on MS-Windows?  Troubleshoot PC and USB compatibility issues?  Learn a new radio programming format?

Why is this mentioned at all?

I want to play radio.  That's the point.

Most folks spend 10 or more hours to install the driver, resolve driver, compatibility and OS issues, install the radio programming application (also known as CPS) and program the radio correctly before successfully getting on the air.  Until then, you have a non-functional brick.  Some think this is fun,  welcome it as a challenge and we applaud those individuals.

What value do you place on your time?

This is not to say that you would not need to learn at all; eventually, you will need learn to add new information in order to access new repeaters in your home area or perhaps new repeaters for travel.  With our solution, get on the air first and learn to program at your schedule*.

We help you get on the air ASAP and are the first VAR authorized by USA-based Connect Systems Inc. to fill that need.

See you at the next hamfest/convention!

For those whom opt, we will do this for you as a one-time or via subscription service after initial sale.  Contact us for details.
