The SBJ-220R roll up antenna is a portable-friendly version of the HAM DBJ-220 antenna. It will provide years of service when properly installed. It is, as far as I know, a novel design. Extra 6ft extensions cables are available at $8 each.

This antenna is DC grounded design so a lightning arrestor is neither needed nor recommended.

This antenna is ideal for emergencies since it can be stored in a backpack, glove compartment or emergency radio kit. Simply erect it in the clear to give best performance. It will offer superior performance over the built-in rubber flexible antenna which comes with most handi-talkies. Typical measured improvements are 8-10 dB. A convenient nylon fastener has been attached to the end of the antenna for hoisting it to a clear location. The rope or twine used cannot be conductive. This antenna is intended for temporary use outdoors and is not designed for permanent outdoor use. If you are interested in a permanent outdoor antenna, our DBJ-220 is a better choice.

Installation:

IMPORTANT: Since the antenna has no ground radials, its wind load is far less than that of a groundplane antenna. Always follow safety precautions as suggested in the ARRL handbook. NEVER mount close to high voltage wires and take undue risk when mounting the antenna. We assume no liability.
